The New Year’s Special: a 2025 quiz + better resolutions
Migliora il tuo inglese oggi - Business English For Italian Professionals
Hi there,
Welcome back to The English Breakfast — the newsletter for Italian professionals who want to sound more confident and natural in English at work.
I hope you had a great Christmas. I have to admit, these days between Christmas and New Year are my favourite parts of the Christmas break. The stress is over, there’s nowhere to rush to, and the only real plans are eating a fridge full of leftovers and spending time with family and friends. It’s the best!
But as we get ready for the New Year’s celebrations, let’s take a moment to look back on the year and see how closely you were paying attention.
Check out the 2025 trivia quiz below. Can you get all 30 questions correct? (I certainly didn’t 😅 ).
🏆️ Make a note of any new words you find in the questions or answers.
New Year’s Resolutions — useful or a waste of time?
At the beginning of the New Year, a lot of us make resolutions (= buoni propositi). Do more exercise. Improve my English. Eat better. Read every edition of The English Breakfast. Sound familiar? 😉
But by the time February comes around, how many of these resolutions have already been abandoned? Is it motivation… or the way we set our goals?
Are you ready to learn how to set realistic goals you can actually stick to? Before you can read the article, you’ll need to put 7 sections in the correct order. Click below to get started and then check your answers.
Read the article again, and think about how realistic the resolutions are and which ones are more likely to work.
When you’re done, reply and tell me:
What do you think of the article?
Do you agree with the ideas?
And what’s your New Year’s resolution this year?
I’m curious to hear your thoughts.
All right, it’s just a short one this week. I’m getting back to my turkey butties (= sandwiches) and mince pies.
Have a great New Year’s Eve and I’ll see you next year!
All the best,
Dan
