Business English For Italian Professionals

The English Breakfast ☕️

Hi there!

I hope you’ve had a great week. It’s been a busy one for me with a lot of business courses and individual lessons starting again after the break.

There’ve also been a lot of new subscribers to the newsletter this week, so if you’re new around here, welcome to The English BreakfastThe weekly collection of business English tips and tricks made specifically for Italian professionals.

Back to the future

I posted a video on Wednesday that turned out (=si è rivelato) to be surprisingly popular! Thanks if you’ve already seen it, but if you haven’t, I started by asking a simple question…

How would you translate “Domani vado in Spagna?” in English?

If your answer is “Tomorrow I’ll go to Spain?” then watch the video for a quick rundown (= summary/riassunto) of how to use the future structures in English. (Hint: you can’t just use “will” all the time 😉 )

Let’s do some practice

All right, now it’s time to test your skills. Read the sentences below and decide which future structure would be the most appropriate using the verbs in brackets.

  1. I think I ..……………….………… a quick break in a minute. I need a coffee. (have)

  2. …………………. I …………………. you a cup of tea? (make)

  3. What …………….…… you ………….………… tonight? Do you have any plans? (Do)

  4. My flight for Manchester ……………………………….. at 13.30 tomorrow. Can I have a lift to the airport? (leave)

  5. I ..……………….………… lunch with two colleagues later. Do you want to join us? (have)

See the answers at the end of the newsletter 👀

Let’s read something
