Before we get started, I have a question for you. Which of these sentences is correct?

  1. Let’s talk about prepositions.

  2. Let’s talk of prepositions.

  3. Let’s talk on prepositions.

That’s right! Number 1 is correct. Why? Because in English you “talk about something”. The other prepositions just don’t make sense.

Talk about is an example of a dependent preposition. Sounds boring, I know, but there are lots of these in English, and both elementary and advanced students (and everyone in between) often get these wrong.
