Decisions in the moment, the new James Bond, and a surprise for you

Migliora il tuo inglese oggi - Business English For Italian Professionals

The English Breakfast ☕️

Hi there,

I hope you’ve had a great week.

Welcome back to The English Breakfast—the newsletter for Italian professionals who want to feel more confident using English at work.

Let’s get straight to it. Grab a cup of coffee, and let’s go! ☕️

What would you say?

Have you ever had this moment? Someone drops their bag and you jump in: “Te lo prendo io!” Or the phone rings and you say: “Rispondo io!”

In English, we’ve got a simple, natural way to handle these quick, in-the-moment decisions.

We often use will when we decide in the moment, not when we’ve already planned something. Check out these situations:

  • When you decide right now:

“Oh, you look cold. I’ll close the window.”

  • When you offer to do something:

“Don’t worry, I’ll send the file.”

  • When something unexpected happens and you react:

“The Wi-Fi’s down? I’ll restart the router.”

Common mistake!
If it’s already arranged or scheduled, don’t use will — use going to or the present continuous.

  • ❌ I’ll meet John tomorrow at 10.

  • ✅ I’m meeting John tomorrow at 10.

Quiz time 🎲

Can you match the appropriate response to these 8 situations? Of course they all use will for decisions in the moment. Go on, I bet you can get them all right…

Do you understand written English but when you hear native speakers it sounds like another language!?

Maybe you’ve tried watching TV series but it all sounds too fast, or you can only understand half of what your international colleague says at work.

Don’t worry - it’s not your fault.

The truth is, English speakers don’t speak word by word—they connect sounds, drop parts of words, and speak fast.

But they do follow a series of pronunciation rules. And if you know these rules, you’ll start to understand a lot more.

That’s exactly why I created Understand English Now—a step-by-step course to help you finally understand what native speakers are really saying.

  • Self-study course - learn in your own time.

  • Feel confident in real conversations.

  • Understand TV series and films without subtitles.

  • 45 lessons to improve your listening skills step by step.

I can’t wait to see you there 😃

The big question: will 007 get a thrilling new life, or are we about to see “Jeff Bezos as Bond” — packaged in a brown box and delivered by 6pm the same day?
