Watch this week’s mini-lesson to find out.
Let’s recap
When we talk about the purpose of something, we usually use these two structures:
1️⃣ The infinitive (to + verb)
I’m learning English to feel more confident at work.
2️⃣ For + noun
I’m learning English for work.
❌ We don’t say:
I’m learning English for feeling more confident at work.
Now it’s your turn
Complete these sentences so they are true for you.
Use either:
to + verb (to improve, to understand, to prepare…)
or
for + noun (for work, for a meeting, for my job…)
Example:
I’m learning English to feel more confident in meetings.
I’m learning English for my job.

The fight that broke a 27-year working relationship
Have you ever heard of the Australian radio presenters Kyle and Jackie O?
No? Me neither. Maybe we’re just living in the wrong hemisphere.
However, they’ve recently made headlines after an on-air argument between the two hosts ended dramatically. One of them even tore up their $100 million contract, saying they could no longer continue working together. I’d hate to be working in HR at that radio station right now.
Your task
As you read the article, try to find the answers to these questions:
How was astrology involved in the argument?
Which presenter is known for making controversial comments?
What was the public’s reaction to the show’s sudden end?
Want to listen to the argument? Of course you do! You can listen to it here. 😉
All right, that’s it for this week’s edition.
Have a great week and I’ll see you next time.
All the best,
Dan
